Julian Clay "Red" Comer, 80, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005. Services were held Saturday, July 16 with interment at Cedar Ridge Cemetery in Gray. Rev. Billy Hargrove officiated.
Mr. Comer was born in Jones County March 5, 1925, to the late George Durward Comer and Roberta Childs Comer. During World War II, he served his country aboard the USS Unimack with the U. S. Navy. He was a retired Plant Superintendent of Macon Concrete Pipe Company, member of American Legion Post #142, the Woodmen of the World, and a Baptist. Mr. Comer was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Thompson.
Mr. Comer is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Lois Prince Comer of Gray; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy Comer, Clara and Lester Purser, and Doris and Tony Thompson, all of Gray; grandchildren, Lauren Gay of Atlanta, Carl and Jessica Purser, and Clay Purser of Gray; and his twin brother, Claude Comer of Gray.
