Edward Russell "Ed" Combs, 87, of Richmond, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2012.

He was born in Owsley Co., Ky., on August 31, 1924, the son of the late Conley C. and Ethel Jackson Combs. He was a retired Maintenance Supervisor for the Madison County School Systems and was a Veteran of World War II. He was a member of Big Hill Ave. Christian Church for over 50 years, had a perfect attendance record for 17 straight years and enjoyed attending the Men's Sunday School Class. He was a Past Master of Richmond Masonic Lodge No. 25 F & AM.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Phelps Combs; two sisters, Allie Mae Combs and Norma Williams. Survivors include two daughters, Deborah Lainhart (Aaron) and Kathy Bowling (Bill); four grandchildren, Evan Scott Lainhart, Amy Bowling Arnold (Kristoffer), Erin "Kristi" Lainhart Zachary (Justin) and Russell Layton Bowling (Janie); five great-grandchildren; Ty Zachary, Kole Arnold, Jack Bowling, Maecy Arnold and Weston Zachary; two brothers, Chandler Combs (Martha) and Bobby Combs (Bertha); four sisters, Gladys Newland, Dorothy Shelton, Ruby Roberts and Thelma Bishop (Jesse Paul).

Funeral Services at Big Hill Christian Church with Bro. Jim Riggs officiating. Burial in the Richmond Cemetery. Visitation at the Big Hill Christian Church with Masonic Rites.
