Cole Y. Combs, Jr., 81, son of the late Effie and Cole Combs, passed away December 24, 2007. Born in Sanderson, Florida, he had lived in Baker County all of his life. He barbered in Macclenny for 15 years and later went to work for the State of Florida. Mr. Combs was a deacon at Manntown Congregational Holiness Church (Glen St. Mary, Florida), U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, avid outdoor sportsman, farmer, master chef, sharpshooter and was a black belt karate instructor. Survivors include his wife Virginia C. Combs; his son, David Combs (Gail) of Macclenny; two daughters, Carol Brown (Bob) of Lake City, Florida, and Donna Miller (Howard) of Switzerland, Florida; two brothers, Angus (Cora Lee) and Maxie (Norma) Combs; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 28, 2007 in Taylor Church, Taylor, Florida, with Rev. David Hodges and Rev. Jerry Dale Milton officiating, assisted by Rev. Jim Cox. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Mann town Congregational Holiness Church, Glen St. Mary, Florida, from 6 until 8 p.m., Thursday (TODAY), December 27, 2007.
