Orville Allen Combellick was born September 23, 1924 on a farmstead 10 miles west and one mile south of Gettysburg to Benjamin Ira and Marina (Mode) Combellick. He attended school through the 8th grade. Following his schooling he went to work for area farmers before being employed by Vetter Trucking for 19 years. Hoppy retired in 1986.
Due to health reasons Hoppy enjoyed driving his three wheeled snapper mower around town and then his golf cart. He was seven years old when Hoppy entered the Oahe Manor in March of 2005. After that, Hoppy continued to get occasional visits from Thumper.
Hoppy is survived by his sister: Elsie (Bruce) Bartels of Newell, SD; one brother: Harold Combellick (longtime companion, Lakota LeBeau) and one sister-in-law: Irene Kormendy Combellick all of Gettysburg and 10 nephews and four nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings: a stillborn infant, Raymond, Wilbur, Benjamin (Gladys) and Grace Bramblee; one nephew, Lyle Bramblee and one niece, Lucille Bramblee.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Hoppy's arrangements.
