Miss Lucy Colt Married at High Noon Today
Just as we go to press we learn of the marriage at High Noon today of Miss Lucy Colt of this city and S.F. Chalstrom of Spirit Lake. The ceremony was consummated at the Baptist church in presence of relatives and immediate friends, the Rev. Huxford officiating. The bride is a well-known and popular young lady of this city who has grown to womanhood among us. The young couple will go to housekeeping in Spirit Lake at once. At High Noon Last Wednesday – Will in Cottage on Chalstrom's Beach
Miss Lucy Colt and O. F. Chalstrom were married at the Baptist church last Wednesday, May 6th, at 1:00 p.m., Rev. W. F. Huxford officiating. A dinner was served at the Gardston Hotel to the bridal party immediately after the ceremony. Mrs. Chalstrom is a graduate of the Estherville schools. The past few years she has been secretary to Messrs. Francis and Owen, of Spirit Lake. She has spent the past winter in her home in this city. The happy bride is known to a great many people in this community and has a great many friends here. She possesses all the qualities of a successful homemaker and will make an admirable wife for the man who has chosen her for his life's partner. Mr. Chalstrom has lived in the vicinity of Spirit Lake since a young boy, graduating from the high school there. During the World War he served in the Hospital corps of the navy. Since that time he has assisted his father on the farm and is the owner of the Spirit Lake Exide Battery Station. Both of these commendable young people have a host of friends who wish them much joy and happiness during their wedded life. Mr. and Mrs. Chalstrom left at once on an extended wedding trip and after their return will be at home to their many friends in their cottage on Chalstrom's Beach, East Okoboji. Union Baptist Church – The church extends hearty congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Chalstrom, who were united in marriage at the church last Wednesday noon. The service was private with only the immediate families attending with a few friends. The bride, Miss Lucy Colt, has been a member of this church and universally known and liked. The new home will be established on East Okoboji Lake. Miss Chalstrom manages a battery statin and boat business in Spirit Lake. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, May 13, 1925)
Estherville – Services for Lucy Henrietta Chalstrom, 93, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Balm officiating. She died Friday, May 19, 1989 at Rosewood Manor Nursing Home.
Friends may call at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Sunday.
She was born Jan. 4, 1896 at Estherville, the daughter of H.B. Colt and Anna Herrick; she attended Estherville Schools graduating from high school in 1914, she also attended Waterloo Business College. On May 6, 1925 she married O.F. Chalstrom at Estherville. She was employed at the law office of L.W. Owens in Spirit Lake and later Dickinson County Deputy Clerk; later she was employed at First Federal Savings and Loan in Estherville, retiring after twenty years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Alpha Group, Order of Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include one son, James, Ames and two grandchildren Ann and David Chalstrom.
She was preceded in death by her husband, infant daughter, parents and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 20, 1989)
