Mary Drucilla Stinson was born August 1, 1878 at Avery, Red River County, Texas. She was the oldest of the seven children of Thomas Stinson and Elizabeth M Lizzie Kervin. She married John William Collvins November 24, 1895, in Red River County, Texas. Mary was named for her grandmother Drucilla Wortham, the wife of her grandfather John Thomas Stinson. She was the mother of ten children, with only six surviving to adulthood, five daughters and a son. She took up residence in her heavenly home on July 3, 1946 in Red River County as a result of a heart related illness. "Mama Collvins" was laid to rest in the Collvins Cemetery at Avery beside her four babies. Since that day she has been joined by her beloved husband, John, four of her five daughter, her son and numerous nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

I have no rememberance of my grandmother. I was four years old at her passing. I am told that she was a devout christian, as was my grandfather, and was greatly loved by her children and grandchildren. I feel a great loss from not having known her and since I also lost my maternal grandmother at the age of three weeks, I was never to experience that wonderful love of a grandmother.
