GALVA - Dale F. Collinson, 82,of Galva, died at 3:07 PM, Monday, March 14, 2011 at the Kewanee Care Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 19 at Rux Funeral Home in Galva. Pastor Don Reul will officiate. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Galva Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Galva First Baptist Church or to the Knox County Humane Society.

Dale was born May 28, 1928 in Galva, the son of Clyde and Hilda (Kennaugh) Collinson. He married Mary Ellen Johnson on May 28, 1949 in Tulsa, OK. She preceded him in death on September 30, 1995. He later married Donna Musser Bowling on November 29, 1997 in Galva. She survives, as do two sons, John (Jill) Collinson of New Port Richey, FL and Paul (Debbie) Collinson of Galva, a daughter, Carol (Jim) Kiley of Galva, a step-son, Alan (Ann) Bowling of Columbia, MO, a sister, Donnamae Hocker of Macomb, IL, seven grandchildren, Mindy (John) Martin, Trevor, Jacob, Kyle, Olof and Sonda Collinson and Kathy (Richard) McCarter, three great grandchildren, Sydney and Kayla McCarter and Caleb Martin, three step-grandchildren, Traci Truesdale, Julie Hague and Christopher Bowling and three step-great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a son in infancy.

He was a 1946 graduate of Galva High School and had attended the University of Illinois in Galesburg. He was a farmer and sold drainage materials. He was a board member of the Illinois Land Improvement Contractors Association and had been Contractor of the Year. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Galva, the Knox County Farm Bureau, Galva Manx Society and had been secretary of the Galva COOP board and Knox County Soil and Water Conservation District board.
