MULLINS - Mrs. Mattie Collins Avant, 72, widow of James D. Avant, died Sunday after a long illness.
Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Meares Mortuary. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery.
Mrs. Avant was born in Marion County, a daughter of the late Robert T. and Maggie Watson Collins. She was a housewife and a member of Union Baptist Church. She was married first to the late Curtis Rogers.
Surviving are two stepsons, C. Randy Rogers and Eddie Avant, both of Mullins; two daughters, Mrs. Vonita Rasberry of Mullins and Mrs. Roland Causey of Yadkinville, N.C.; four brothers, Leslie Collins and Emerson Collins of Mullins, Robert Collins of Laurinburg, N.C., and Samuel Collins of Hartsville, Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie S. Hunsucker of Marion and Mrs. Rula Hardy of Mullins; 9 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.
