OSWEGO — Patty Louise Blackburn, 75 of Oswego passed from this life on Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, at her home.

She was born March 4, 1938, in Parsons to Orville Sr. and Myrtle (Armine) Collins.

She married Glen Blackburn. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Blackburn received her teaching certificate and started teaching school in the old one-room country school houses. She was a member of the Labette Baptist Church. She enjoyed time spent with family and loved the country living.

Survivors include two sons, Mikeal Shepard and Norman Shepard; two daughters, Brenda Lohr and Teresa Smith; 17 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Collins; and three sisters, Bonnie Goodnight, JoAnn Burris and and Wilma Davis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Hilland Collins and Orville Collins Jr.; and two sisters, Helen Sparks and Ida Mae Meyers.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Labette Baptist Church. Pastor Tom Heflin will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until service time at the church.

Pallbearers for the service are Mike Shepard, Norman Shepard, Ryan Shepard, Mike Correll, James Davis and Joe Manning.

Memorials may be made to help defray expenses.
