HOLTON --- Viola B. Bartley, 93, Holton, died Thursday, May 2, 2002, at a Topeka care facility.
Mrs. Bartley owned and operated Bartley's Beauty Bar in Holton. She also had taught school in Washington County.
She was born Feb. 22, 1909, in Garden City, the daughter of Fred and Josie Roberts Collins. She moved to Holton in 1946.
Mrs. Bartley was a member of Evangel United Methodist Church, a 64- year member of the Rebekah Lodge in Holton and a member of Columbia Chapter No. 152 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Progressive Study Club, Friday Afternoon Club, Orchard Grove Club and a life member of the Native Sons and Daughters of Kansas.
She married Lester E. Bartley on Feb. 7, 1931, in Minneapolis. He survives.
Other survivors include three grandchildren.
Mrs. Bartley was preceded in death by a son, Gary E. Bartley, on July 12, 1999.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Hospice or to the Evangel United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
