She was born in Oxford, Miss. on May 27, 1919, to the late Alford and George Ella (nee: Penaman) Patton and had been a resident of Racine since 1946. T was employed at St. Luke's Hospital for many years, retiring in 1981. She loved fishing; she fished from early Spring to late Fall. She often shared her catch with friends and family. She enjoyed preparing meals for all of us, family, and friends.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a sister, Aberdeen Buford of Flint, Mich.; two sisters-in-law, Bernice Mitchell of Alabama and Geraldine Price of Racine; and one brother-in-law, Porter Blackwell of Ripley, Miss. She leaves many nieces, nephews, (the Blackwells, Bufords, Jacksons, and Pattons), and a host of other relatives and friends.
She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Lethan Blackwell and Robert Collins; two sisters, Ola Mae Jackson and Mable Patton; and one brother, Braxter Patton.
Funeral services will be held at Wayman AME Church, 424 North Memorial Drive, on Friday, December 21, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charlene B. Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Relatives and friends may visit with the family at the church on Thursday from 5 until 7 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
