Mary Edna Powers Collins, 63, of Athens, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, at Etowah Healthcare.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Bryant Powers and was a member of Mt. Verd Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Winton Collins on March 6, 2001; and one daughter, Nancy Hester.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Jerry Ball of Athens, Phyllis and Marty McDaniel of Madisonville, and Dianne and Sam Tindle of Athens; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Hazel Collins, Mike and Jane Collins, Jeff and Michelle Collins, all of Athens, and Arnold and Michelle Collins of Forrest Heights, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her mother, Sara Sally Gennoe Powers of Athens; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mildred Powers, Betty Webb, both of Athens, Margaret Dotson of Sweetwater, and Willie Mae and Donnie Moses of Decatur, Francis and James Ramey of Clyde, N.C.; two brothers, Sammy and James Powers, both of Athens; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Ziegler Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Dalton officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in Sunrise Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
