Miss Dora Dean Collins, retired school teacher, passed away at Wesley Village, Wilmore, Kentucky on Tuesday, December 30th, 2014. She was born in Scott County, Kentucky on July 29, 1927 to the late Carrie Elaine Baldwin Collins and Hugar George Collins. She was reared from age four by her late aunt and uncle, Hattie Lee Baldwin Hamon and Captain Frank Jewell Hamon. She was a graduate of Garth High School, Georgetown in 1945 and Georgetown College in 1949. Miss Collins taught third grade at Garth School; and retired in 1979, having taught in the Georgetown and Scott County School systems for thirty years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Georgetown, and a life member of the Kentucky Historical Society. She belonged to Friends of the Georgetown Community Hospital, and to the Kentucky and Scott County Retired teacher Associations. She compiled family genealogy during her retirement years, and donated it to the Scott County Library. Miss Collins was preceded in death by her brother, Howard lee Collins. She is survived by cousins: JoAnn Baldwin Fletcher, Wilmore, Kentucky; Peggy Joyce Baldwin Moore, Keller, Texas; Dr. Mary Ellen Baldwin Cain, Santee, South Carolina; and John Chesley Baldwin, Sr., Danville, Kentucky. Casket bearers are Robert Fain, Joe Fletcher, David Misenheimer, David Warfield, Steve Hockensmith and Mike Hockensmith. Honorary bearers are Ben Fain, R.C. Johnson, Jonathan Johnson, Leslie M. Sharon, Donald Beaven, Nelson Mullikin, Vickie Johnson, Debra Molczyk, Terry Murray, Gervis Showalter and William H. Crouch, Jr. Friends may call on Friday at Johnson's Funeral Home from 10am until time of service at Noon with Rev. Shayanna Little officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery.
