Louise Collier departed her life Tuesday morning, Sept. 2, 2008, at 11:45 a.m. She was born to the late Dready Foster and Ollie Harris, Feb. 28, 1927, in Tallulah, La. Louise moved to Greenville, Miss., where she attended Old Evening Star School, and she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at the age of 10, under the leadership of Rev. EP Powell. She later relocated to Tallulah, where she met and married James Collier and reunited with her siblings. Louise moved back to Greenville, Miss., where she worked in the school system for many years. In 1978, she moved to Las Vegas, where she worked for many years for the Dunes Hotel, and from where she retired. Louise was known for singing throughout the church community. She loved sewing, cooking and gardening. She was a member of Calvary MBC, under Pastor Peterson, and she later joined Trinity MBC, under the leadership of Pastor Robert A. Jackson, where she was a member until her departure. She was also a member of the Pilgrims Christian Society. Louise had one loving cousin, Zellena Pernell of Greenville, Miss., who was not only a cousin, but a sister in heart. She was a devoted loving mother and a friend to all that came in contact with her. Preceding her in death were her husband, James E. Collier; her parents, Dready Foster and Ollie Harris Perkins; four brothers, Andre King, Arnett Perkins, Freddy L. Perkins and Walter Perkins Jr.; three sisters, Ida Grier, Edna Perkins and Mattie Perkins; two sons, Dready Foster and Cornelius Bell Foster; and one daughter, Sheila Collier. Louise leaves to cherish her memory seven sons, Fready William (Ann) of Carson City, Elliot Griffin (Ether) of Greenville, Miss., Arthur Foster (Patricia) of Lansing, Mich., Leon Foster (Ava) of Las Vegas, James Collier (Roslyn) of Orange County, Calif., Tommy Collier (Shirley) and Jimmy Collier (Regina), both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Annette Molten (Charlie) and Lonetha Prince, both of Las Vegas, and Lillie Phillip of Greenville, Miss.; one brother, Richard Perkins; and one sister, Ada Dee, both of Las Vegas; three sisters-in-law, Bobby Perkins, Edna Perkins and Treadie Perkins, all of Las Vegas; one aunt, Edna Taylor of Tallulah, La; her longtime caregiver, Henry McGowan; 60 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews and friends. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 7, at Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Funeral services will be at noon Monday, Sept. 8, at Moments of Blessing, 5255 Meikle Lane. Interment will follow at Bunkers Eden Vale Memorial Park, 1216 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
