Nancy Laura Harrington is the daughter of Firman Lorenzo Harrington and Elizabeth "Libbie" Hutchins. She is one of five girls: Urania H Harrington Dutton, Eva F Harrington Nearing, Ethel M Harrington Naylor and Bernice E Harrington and one boy Roy F Harrington.

Nancy was born in Hartwick, Otsego County, New York and married Orlie William Collar about 1916. She spent her married life in Laurens, New York. After her husband died she moved to Chenango County with her son Orlie William Collar Jr.

In December of 1966, while cutting firewood with an axe she had accidentally split her head open. She was found in the yard by her grandson William Pete Collar who got help and she was admitted to Chase Memorial Hospital and never returned home.

From stories told she seemed to be a very nice woman, although I never had a chance to meet her. Every day after school, grandson William would go visit her and she would always have a piece of candy for him. In her one of her rooms she had unopened presents stacked everywhere. Every gift she ever received she wouldn't open, just placed it with all of her others. They were cheerished by her, although she had no idea what they were.

Nancy was always taking William's pocket knives from him. One time he saved his money and bought a really nice pocket nice. She caught him with it and took it away. He was so upset with his grandmother that he had placed a garder snake in her bed. (He was only about 7-8 yrs old). Needless to say he was punished quite severely.

When the grandkids would do something to upset her or something she disapproved of, she would shake her finger at them while biting her thumb knuckle on her other hand... Never saying a word...you just knew she wasn't pleased with what you were doing.
