Melissa Marcile Coles Adams
Former Brown County resident Melissa Marcile Coles Adams died Thursday morning, July 1, 1999, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A resident of that city, she was 85.
Mrs. Adams was born July 4, 1913, in Columbus to Charles and Myrtle Calvin Coles. She and Paul Butler Adams were married November 5, 1931. He died February 15, 1980.
Her husband had owned and operated the Star Store in Nashville. He had also served as a Washington Township Trustee.
Mrs. Adams had worked as a secretary at the Columbus Boys' Club for several years. She had also served as business manager at the Indiana University Daily Student newspaper and in the Monroe County Clerk's office.
She had been a member of First Christian Church. Mrs. Adams was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Vernita Hutton of Columbus and Sara Louise Kritzer of Brown County; a brother, Robert Coles of Georgia; a sister, May F. Yoder of West Liberty, Ohio; and several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by a son, Paul E. Adams; a sister, Lela Raider; and two brothers, Howard Coles and Harold Coles.
Pastor Darrell Stout conducted a service Saturday afternoon, July 3, at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus.
Burial was in that city's Garland Brook Cemetery.

Marcile Coles Adams
Melissa Marcile Coles Adams, 85, of Waycross Drive died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, July 1, 1999, at Columbus Regional Hospital.
She was a secretary at the Boys Club for many years and also had been business manager at the Indiana University Daily Student and worked in the Monroe County Clerk's office.
She was a member of First Christian Church and a former member of Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Darrell Stout officiating. Calling will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 12:30 p.m. until service time Saturday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Mrs. Adams was born in Columbus July 4, 1913, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle Calvin Coles. She married Paul B. Adams Nov. 5, 1931. He died Feb. 15, 1980.
Survivors include daughters, Vernita Hutton of Columbus and Sarah Kritzer of Nashville; a brother, Robert Coles of Georgia; a sister, Mary F. Yoder of West Liberty, Ohio; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
