Joan Coleman Belcher, 76, of Elkhorn City, KY, died Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at her home following an extended illness.
Born in Pike County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Alex and Gaynell Ramey Coleman. She was a lifelong resident of Pike County, KY and a member of the Church of Christ in Elkhorn City, KY. She was a homemaker and a quilting and flower garden enthusiast.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Edward Belcher, and one sister, Mary Lou Adkins.
She is survived by three daughters, Sherry Diane and husband, Bernard Elswick and Pamela Gay Stacy, all of Big Rock and Vickie Belcher of Mouthcard, KY; two sons, Timothy and wife, Verdie Sawyers of Ferrells Creek, KY and Willie Todd and wife, Teresa Belcher, of Lick Creek, KY; three sisters, Gerri and husband, Paul Belcher, of Big Rock, Patty and husband, Charles Justice, of Pikeville, KY and Geneva Edmonds, of Freemont, OH; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, February 18 at Bailey Funeral Home Chapel, Elkhorn City, KY, with Evgs. Frank Crum and Jim Ed Belcher officiating. Burial followed in the Flannery Cemetery, Mouthcard.
Active pallbearers were grandsons.
Bailey Funeral Home of Elkhorn City was in charge of arrangements.
