Donald (Red) Coleman, 90, of 8368 Old Poland Road, passed away August 15, 2000, at the Abraham House in Utica. He was born March 19, 1910, in Barneveld, one of ten children born to Frank and Lillian Hart Coleman. He was educated in Holland Patent schools. He was a self-employed truck driver. Red was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Africa, Italy, Germany, France and Belgium during WW II. He was a member of St. Ann's Church, the Memorial Post #982, VFW of Remsen, the Adirondack Post #1118, American Legion of Cold Brook, the Trenton Fish and Game Club, and a fifty year member of the Barneveld Volunteer Fire Department. Red is survived by two sisters, Virginia (Jeannie) Howlett of Roanoke, VA, and Hazel Trombley of Ventura, CA; several nieces and nephews; and his care giver, Bev Marks. The funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at the Ackley-Barry Funeral Home, 9597 Main Street, Remsen. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Barneveld. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday 4-7 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect Ambulance Fund, Barneveld Volunteer Fire Department, Hospice Care, or the Abraham House.
