Martha Lou Askue, 79, of Cave City, died Feb. 18, 2002, at White River Medical Center in Batesville.
Born June 15, 1922, at Center Ridge, she was the daughter of William Charles and Rachel Marie Frazier Cole. She was a homemaker and a member of Mary's Chapel Baptist Church of Huffman.
Survivors include five sons -- William Thomas Askue of Cave City, Danny Lee Askue, Otis Gene Askue and Bobby Glenn Askue, all of Blytheville, and Ernest Earl Askue of Leachville; three daughters -- Mary Lynn Holder of Burleson, Texas, Margaret Ann Scrivner of Evening Shade, and Gena Lynn Watts of Blytheville; six brothers -- Johnny Cole of Hot Springs, Robert Cole of Prescott, Eldon Cole of Blytheville, Bud Cole, Weldon Cole and Larry Simpson, all of Hope; two sisters -- Minnie Phillips of Center Ridge and Ola May Davis of Hope; 31 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand-children; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Ernest Askue; two sons, -- William Charles Askue and Alvin Ray Askue; and a brother, Lloyd Cole.
The funeral was Feb. 21 at Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Rick Brothers officiating. A graveside service and burial followed at Grandview Cemetery in Center Ridge.
