Ernest F. Cole, 78, of 218 Auburs St., a retired grocer, died unexpectedly Tuesday in a local hospital.
He was born Jan. 1, 1890, the son of the late Arthur S. and Minnie Simpson Cole and attended Portland High School. He was in the grocery business many years in Portland and Presque Isle and had retired only recently.
Besides his wife, the former Sherbie Tuck, Mr. Cole is survived by a daughter Mrs. Phillip (Jacquelyn) McGovern; a brother Leo A. Cole; three sisters Mrs. Louis Sears, Mrs. Moses Arnold and Mrs. Dora Johnson; and four grand-children all of Portland.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at 749 Congress St. Interment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park.
