Daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Gruce) Cole.
Nancy attended Jackson College for Women (now integrated with Tufts University), received her Bachelor of Arts in 1924 from Vassar College and her Master of Arts in 1929 and PhD in 1934 from Radcliffe College.
Nancy taught subjects in the realm of mathematics at places like Oxford School (now Kingswood Oxford School) in West Hartford, Connecticut; Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York; Wells College in Aurora, New York; Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia; Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio; Connecticut College for Women (now Connecticut College) in New London, Connecticut; and at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.
She was a member of the Antiquarian Society of Plymouth and of the Pilgrim Society.
