GUYEDA COLE Valparaiso, IN Guyeda Cole passed away peacefully on the 15th day of July, 2008.
Guyeda's gentle, whimsical and caring spirit was cherished by the many she touched in life. Uncommonly contented with modest means, Guyeda found fulfillment in her loves of bird watching, classical music, swimming and reading.
Born June 30, 1924 to Guy and Ida Shields, Guyeda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milton L. Cole, and sister; Jean Inman.
Her sister, Mirriel Beddell, survives along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Guyeda was a graduate of Grinnell College and worked many years as a bookkeeper for the National Crop Insurance Services Corporation. In retirement, she volunteered tirelessly at Save the Dunes Council's "Shop" and was a particularly dedicated secretary/treasurer for the Porter County Chapter of the Izaac Walton League of America.
As her health declined, Guyeda was most fortunate and grateful to receive compassionate care from (among unnamed others) Dr. Michael Weiss, VNA Hospice, the ICU at Porter Valparaiso Hospital Campus, Chuck Worden of Centier Bank, Ruth Osann, Karen Antczak, Marcie Owens, Charlotte Read, Judy Bornstein and the wonderful staff and residents of Pines Village.
At Guyeda's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at Pines Village on a date yet to be determined.
