Obituary:

Elmer Charles Cole, died today in St. Joseph Hospital at age 70. He lived in Wilkinson Addition, Godfrey township.

He was a retired gardner at Montlcello College and had been living in the Alton area since 1920.

Elmer was born March 16, 1883, at Robertsville, Mo.

Loretta Cole, his wife, survives him as well as four daughters, Mrs. Effie Edwards, Mrs. Bernice Enos and Mrs. Marjorie Drusty, Alton, and Mrs. Emma Henderson, Pacific, Mo., and three sons, Ray and Charles of Alton and Harold of Wood River; two sisters, Mrs. Emma Barber, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Dolly Short, St. Louis, Mo., and eight grandchildren.

Funeral will be Friday at 2 p. m. at Staten funeral home. Rev. William F. Bohn, pastor of First Baptist Church, East Alton will officiate. Burial will be in Upper Alton cemetery.
