Claimed to have been the "mystery man" in the background of the photo on the cover of the Beatles' 1969 album Abbey Road. Cole's claim remains unverified and primarily based on his own testimony. "COLE, Paul Edmund Age 96, died February 13, 2008 in Pensacola, Florida. He had been living independently at home prior to his death due to heart problems. He and his wife, Marion (Schwenke) Cole were native to Logan, Ohio and living in Springfield, Ohio from 1942 until 1955. He worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base during World War II and later owned a household appliance and commercial refrigeration store on N. Limestone St. He moved to Rochester, New York, then several cities in Florida until his retirement from the restaurant equipment business. He owned a motel in Deerfield Beach, Florida where he also served as a Director on the Chamber of Commerce. His later years were spent in Dothan, Al. and Milton, Florida. His wife predeceased him in 2001 after over 70 years of marriage. Mr. Cole was also predeceased by a daughter, Carole Cole Reed, Surviving relatives include his son; George E. (Joann) Cole of Goodwater, Alabama; one daughter, Frances (John) Cox of Rockville, Maryland; two sister, Grace Sonners, and Gertrude Patchen both of Springfield, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. Interment was in Boca Raton, Florida."
