-Services for Bernice Lorene Patrick, 91, Ada, are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, with Bud Ross officiating. Burial will follow at Gerty Cemetery. Mrs. Patrick died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Sterling House in Ada. She was born August 19, 1921 in Burlingame, Kansas to Chris Christesen and Florence Boruff Christesen. She graduated from Peterton grade school, Osage City, Kansas in 1935, Burlingame High School in 1938, Chanute Jr. College in Chanute, KS in 1941 and Kansas State College in 1943. She taught school one year at District 110 near Burlingame, KS. She married Thomas A. (Jack) Colbert of Gerty on March 8, 1944 in Kansas City, KS. He preceded her in death September 1995. She later married Henry Patrick on October 27, 2003 in Ada. He preceded her in death on October 11, 2009. She graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Medical Technology, Kansas City, MO in 1944. She worked at St. Luke's Hospital for six months before joining her husband in the Armed Services stationed at Augusta, GA. In 1945 she returned to Topeka, KS to work for the Kansas State Board of Health Laboratories from 1945-1956. She moved to Oklahoma in 1956. She worked in the office of Dr. C. P. Taylor and Dr. E. D. Padberg for 32 years. Mrs. Patrick was a member of Central Church of Christ, a member of the Pontotoc County Family and Community Education Group, serving as County President in 1992 and 1993. She was a volunteer in the Reach to Recovery Program at Valley View Regional Hospital, also an active member of the Chickasaw Senior Citizens program serving as secretary and treasurer. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; two brothers; one sister and two nieces. Bearers will be Jerry Battles, Don Sexton, Don Battles, Dustin Battles, Jim Battles and Shad Barnett.
