ALFRED A. COHN:
Cohn worked in Cleveland, Ohio as a newspaper editor and journalist and later in Galveston, Texas where he ran a newspaper. He then moved to Arizona and served as a secretary for the Arizona constitutional convention Arizona gained statehood in 1912. Cohn worked a number of different jobs newspaper reporter, editor, magazine editor, publicist, customs collections and was at one time, head of the Los Angeles Police Department. Cohn is best known for writing the script for "The Jazz Singer," for which he received an Oscar nomination. He retired from films in 1935 Cohn served as Collector of Customs in Los Angeles, a position he held four years. Cohn died of a heart condition.
