BERNSTEIN-Eve C., 98, died peacefully, Friday, March 3, 2006, at the Rose Blumkin Home, following a recent stroke.
A loving, caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, she is survived by her son, Martin and wife Martha of Troy, Michigan and by daughter,
Lois and husband, Sol Friedman, of Omaha.
She was the beloved matriarch and source of love, affection, advice and counsel of 5 grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer Bernstein of Troy, MI, Steve Friedman
and Douglas Friedman of Omaha, Rob and Kelly Friedman of Dallas, TX. and Nancy (Friedman) and Stuart Rakley of New York City. All affectionately called her Nana. Her three great-grandchildren, Matt and Will Friedman of Dallas and Zoi Friedman of Omaha were her non-stop source of pleasure, entertainment and sports and pop culture information. Don and Annette Olson of Omaha were very dear and devoted friends in her later years.
Mrs. Bernstein was born in Omaha on November 27, 1907 to Morris and Pauline Cohn. She graduated from Central High School and attended college in Omaha. In 1929 she married David B. Bernsteein, who predeceased her in 1982. For over
twenty years she lived in Corpus Christi, TX., returning to Omaha in the early '60's. She was active in the Red Cross, Hadassah and Temple Israel.
She loved Candy, especially chocolate, reading, growing lowers and a variety of card games and mah jong. In her later, but still active and healthy years, Mrs. Bernstein
lived at Remington Heights, where she continued her love of reading and managed the residents convenience store one day a week. She was the volunteer bookkeeper, too.
