Roberta Simmons Cohernour, 80, formerly of Renick, passed away Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at the Brier Nursing Home, Ronceverte, after a sudden illness.
Roberta was born Oct. 6, 1929, at Renick to the late Harry Simmons and the late Blanche Walton Simmons.
Other than her parents, Roberta, was preceded in death by: husband, Dwain E. Cohernour in 1984; three brothers, James, Frank and Joe Simmons; and four sisters, Virginia Hollandsworth, Helen Hinkle, Wanda Reed and Letrice Sharp.
Roberta is survived by her son Ronald E. Cohernour and wife Brenda of Renick and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Roberta was a member of the Renick Baptist Church, a homemaker and a retired cook with the Greenbrier County School System. She especially enjoyed visits from members of Calvary Baptist Church during her last two years living at the Brier Nursing Home.
Her family sends "Special Thanks" to all of the caregivers at the Brier Nursing Home, The Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Dr. Connie Anderson, and Dr. Z. Shamma-Othman.
A graveside service was held Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Morningside Cemetery where Rev. Leroy Crane officiated.
There was no visitation.
Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg was in charge of arrangements.
