Abraham "Abe" Cohen (1930 - 2012)
Abraham "Abe" Cohen died peacefully Tuesday morning, Jan. 24, 2012, during his 81st year. Service: 11 a.m. Friday in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive, with Rabbi Andrew Bloom and Rabbi Gary Perras officiating. Minyan service will be held Friday at Congregation Ahavath Sholom, beginning at 6 p.m. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Congregation Ahavath Sholom or to a charity of one's choice , in Abe's memory, is suggested.
A native of Fort Worth, Abe was born Aug. 6, 1930, the son of Joseph and Rose Haller Cohen. He was a graduate of R.L. Paschal High School and attended Arlington State College. After serving during the Korean War in the U.S. Air Force, Abe married Lee Bernstein in 1956. He was a longtime member of Congregation Ahavath Sholom and worked for over 35 years for Zale's. He retired as manager of Zale's Six Flags store and later worked in fine jewelry at Foley's.
Survivors: In addition to his wife of 55 years, Lee, Abe is survived by his son, Jeff and his wife, Kellie, and their daughter, Katie; sister, Dorothy Cohen Chaffin of Houston; nieces and nephews and their families; and special friend, Sharon Huber.
