Note: Rachel decended from Richard Coffin who removed from Normandy to Eng. 1066. He entered the English army, had lands granted to him & was knighted by William I, the Conquerer. She is a direct descendant of Gov. Tristram Coffin, the founder of the Coffin family line in America, born in Brixton, Devonshire, Eng. in 1605, where the Coffin family has held the same house & lands for almost a thousand years.

Rachel COFFIN was born in Nantucket, Nantucket, Massachusetts, USA on 1749-08-09. She was the first child of Elisha COFFIN (1726-02-09) and Mary GARDNER. She had one sister (Judith COFFIN (1751-10-09)) and three brothers: Joshua COFFIN (1758-08-09), Elisha COFFIN (1758-08-09), Nathaniel COFFIN (1761-09-11).

When she was 28 years old, her father Elisha COFFIN died (1777-09-30). When she was 65 years old, her mother Mary GARDNER died (1814-06-30).

She married Edmund CLARK (1743-11-29) in Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1766. She was 17 years old when she married Edmund CLARK, who was 22 years old at that time. She had seven children with Edmund CLARK:

Elizabeth CLARK (1768-10-19)
Eunice CLARK (1770-10-03)
Randall CLARK (1772-09-01)
Annie CLARK (1774-11-01)
Mary CLARK (1779-06-12)

She died in FEB 1829 when she was 79 years old. She was buried in Clark Cemetery, China, Kennebec, Maine, USA. Her husband Edmund CLARK died on 1822-02-11, 7 years before her.
