Miss Mary Coffey married George A. Baker in 1866 and they became established in ranching in San Saba County, Texas. There were nine children born to their marriage: John, Fannie, Arma, Allie, Brownie, Frank, James Eugene and Jennie. She was a beloved frontier wife and mother who met the challenge of raising a family on the perilous Texas frontier.

At Mary's death, she was buried on their ranch in San Saba County, Texas in what is now called the Baker Family Cemetery.
