Mary Van Butcher, 86, of Lubbock, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 1, 2011, at University Medical Center, surrounded by family and friends. She was born Aug. 17, 1925, in Annona, Texas, the daughter of late Gladys and Benjamin Coffee. She was the oldest of three sisters. She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1942. On Aug. 24, 1947, she married William R. Butcher Sr., who passed in January 2001. Mrs. Butcher was a member of Saint Stephens Episcopal Church. She worked 50 years for RS Wilkinson and Associates.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lisa and William R. Butcher Jr. of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Lee B. Lancaster of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; and sisters, Gene Miller and Shirley Gideon of Lubbock, Texas.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 17 at 11 a.m. at Saint Stephens Episcopal Church in Lubbock, Texas.
