Taylor Fletcher Coe

Taylor Fletcher Coe, 95, of Decatur, died early Friday morning, Nov. 13, 2009 at Sweetwater Hospital.

A native of Polk County, and resident of McMinn County (Athens and Etowah) for most of his life, he was a son of the late Taylor Fouts and Feba Lindsay Coe.

He was retired from L&N Railroad and was a local blacksmith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and he enjoyed fishing, blacksmithing, woodworking and gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Coe; his second wife, Estelle Coe; one son, Darrell Coe; one grandson, Leslie Hicks; four sisters, Gertie Gass, Lucy Wilson, Marie Carruth and Pearl Killian; four brothers, J.R. Coe, Willie Coe, Hayse Coe and Richard Coe; one step-daughter, Vivian Morgan; one step-son, Franklin Gennoe; one step-grandson, Michael Kennedy; one step-great-granddaughter, Rebekah Gennoe; and one great-granddaughter, Lanae Long.

Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Mary Gail and Kenneth Hicks of Etowah and Carol Long of West Virginia; one son Kenneth Coe of Stuart, Fla.; two step-daughters and spouses, Dorothy and Johnny Kennedy of Decatur and Frances and Larry Hughes of Sweetwater; three step-sons and spouses, Charles and Patsy Gennoe of Cleveland, Shaver and Linda Gennoe of Decatur and Dallas and Rosa Gennoe of Decatur; two sisters, Faye Cronan Denny of Cleveland and Mary Lou Wilson of Etowah; 33 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Belcher officiating.

Burial will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Polk County.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15th at the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Alzheimer's Association, Mid-South Chapter, 7625 Hamilton Park Blvd, Suite 8, Chattanooga, TN 37421, or to the American Cancer Society, c/o Faye Forgety, 120 Co. Rd. 447, Athens, TN 37303.
