Lydia Belle daughter of William & Mary (Shatto) Cochran, was born 11 Apr 1874 on a farm near Milan, Mo & passed away in the afternoon of Thanksgiving Day, 25 Nov 1954.
November 21, 1900, she was united in marriage to Jefferson Bray. Two daughters were born to them, Hazel and Agnes.
Her husband preceded her in death 20 May 1941. Surviving are her daughters, Hazel of the home and Agnes, now Mrs. Forest Parker, who lives on an adjoining farm, 2 grandchildren Bessie Belle Butler and Calrence Parker. Also 5 sisters, Mrs Martha Franklin, Mrs Ermine Bailey, Mrs. Sarah Margaret Cochran, Mrs Adaline Whitacre and Miss Bertha Cochran. Also one brother, Chester Cochran and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers & one sister preceded her in death.
Known to her hriends as Belle, she spent her entire life in the vicinity of her birth. She took an interest in all neighborhood activities and attended the Sullivan Church.
After the tragic death of her husband in a farm accident, she with the assistance of her daughter Hazel continued to operate the farm. She was a good wife, mother, neighbor and friend. The world is a better place for her having lived in it.
Burial was beside her husband in Oakwood Cemeter, Milan, Sullivan Co., Missouri.
