At 4 o'clock Wednesday afternoon Mr. Samuel Cochran led to the marriage altar Miss Mary J. Newland, a very accomplished, handsome and worthy young lady. The ceremony occurred at Mr. A. D. Newland's and was said by Rev. C. C. Green in the presence of a number of friends and relatives. We extend our best wishes.

Mrs. Mary J. Cochran, widow of Samuel Cochran, died suddenly of apoplexy Monday evening about 7 o'clock in Lexington. For many years she had successfully taught school in different parts of Lincoln county, but her health failing she was compelled to give up her work. Mrs. Cochran is survived by three brothers Messrs. T. D. and O. P. Newland, of this county and Joseph Newland, of Missouri. After funeral services at the home of T. D. Newland, on Somerset St., the remains of the good Christian woman were laid to rest in Buffalo Cemetery, Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock.
