DEATH'S DOINGS
Mrs. Sarah M. Newland, relict of the late Dudley Newland, died at Mr. O. P. Newland's Sunday morning at 2 o'clock, aged 65. For a week or more she had been ill of pneumonia and grip and while it was thought she could not recover, it was not believed that her end would come so soon. Mrs. Newland, was on a visit to her nephew, who lives at her old home, which was sold when her husband died and it really looks as if she returned to the old place to spend the last moments of her well spent life. About a month ago she came from Madison, where she has for several years lived, and since she has been visiting her many relatives in this section. She seemed to be uneasy until she went to Mr. Otis Newland's but as soon as she got to the old homestead, was perfectly contented. A few days after her arrival she became sick and growing continually worse, died as above stated. Mrs. Newland was a Miss Cochran and was a splendid woman in every particular. A devout member of the Presbyterian Baptist church, she followed the teachings of that belief and lived a consistent christian life. No children blessed the union of Mr. and Mrs. Newland, but using the expression of Mr. T. D. Newland, a nephew of the good old couple they raised, and raised well as many children as most any family. The funeral occurred at Mr. Otis Newland's at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, after which the remains were taken to Buffalo cemetery and laid beside those of her husband.
