Charles Robert Coates II, 36, died February 23, 1983, a Houston Police Officer and a Member Houston Police Patrolman's Union.

Survivors: Wife Elizabeth A. Coates; daughter Christine Coates, both of Houston; father and mother Charles R. and Jacqueline Coates; grandmother Catherine Graham; sister Carolyn Alexander; brother John Coates all of St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 25, 1983, Heights Funeral Chapel. Police Chaplain H. L. Hannah officiating.

Second service and interment was held on Saturday, February 26, in Florissant, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers family request donations to Texas Head Injury Foundation, 2600 S. Gessner, Suite 425, Houston, Texas 77063. Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd. 862-8844.

Officer Charles Coates succumbed to injuries received almost one year earlier when he was struck by a vehicle while investigating an accident.

Charles lived to be 36 years, 10 months and 15 days old.
