Evelyn C. Atkins, age 76, passed away Monday, Oct. 20, 1997. Mrs. Atkins was born May 17, 1921 in Polk County. She was a retired employee of the Runell Manufacturing Company and a member of the Rockmart Second Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer John and Ida Virginia Ingram Coalson; and husband, Henry L. Atkins. Surviving are: two daughters, Eloise Fuqua of Rockmart and Elaine Casey of Cedartown; two sisters, Ava Nell Robinson of Rockmart and Doris Braswell of Bremen; brother, Earl Coalson of Dallas; two grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of the Avis Miller and Son Funeral with Rev. Calvin Brown and Dr. Benjamin Lindsay officiating. Interment followed in Rose Hill Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were; J. R. Cole, Maniey Casey, Thurman Atkins, Pershing Wadsworth, Franklin Statham and Bill Gates. The Alvis Miller and Son Funeral Home, Rockmart, had charge of the arrangements.
