It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother and grandmother, Anita, which occurred at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in New Waterford, June 13, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Moses and Annie (Flemming) Coakley.
Surviving are her son, Carl (Deborah) and daughters, Sandra (Raymond Boxer) George, Sydney and Ann, Dartmouth and three very special grandchildren, David, Darren and Kevin. Also surviving are two sisters, her twin sister, Antoinette Smith and Francie (Duncan) Gillis, both of Toronto.
Anita was predeceased by her loving husband, Carl ‘Cy' in 2001. Also by her brother, Robert and sisters, Agnes, Marie Leudy, Margaret White and Eileen Forsythe.
She was a devout member of St. Theresa's parish. Anita was greatly respected for her many years of service as a registered nurse at St. Rita Hospital. Her family and her faith were the foundation of her life. Anita's family and friends and all of those whose lives she touched and enriched, will lovingly and dearly miss her.
Visitation for Anita Carocci will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel today (Tuesday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at St. Theresa's Church with Rev. Jim Oliver and Rev. Gerry White concelebrating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
God looked around his garden and found an empty place,
He then looked down upon his earth and saw your loving face,
He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest,
His Garden must be beautiful, he always takes the best.
It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you, on the day God called you home.
