Samuel Shannon Coakley of Pulaski, formerly of Coshocton, Ohio, went to be with his lord and savior Jesus Christ Sunday, Jan. 29, at approximately 6:30 p.m.
He would have been 74 years old on March 23. Sam was an active member of Pulaski Christian Church, where he was an ordained elder. He was a participating member of the Loyal Order of Moose Pulaski Chapter 2089, as well as an honorary member of the Pulaski Jaycee's. You could often find him participating in their many functions and gatherings. He truly will be missed by both organizations, as well as his bowling friends, members of his church and community. Sam had retired from truck driving for Pretty Products in 1999 and moved to Pulaski, where he became an employee of Draper Valley Golf Course as a mechanic and "practicing golf pro" – a job he truly enjoyed.
Sam was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Markle Coakley; father, Alva F. Coakley; wife, Sharon Wiggins Coakley; sister, Nancy Ormesher, and son, Samuel E. Coakley
Sam is survived by his mate, Patricia Kanode and her daughters and spouses, Lee and Mike Wolfe, Lynn and Tim Jones and their child, Stacy; daughter, Karen Coakley Bagent and her husband, Jeff; granddaughter and husband, Kristi and Mike Kibbey; grandsons, Shannon and Adam Guinther; son, Alva David Coakley and wife, Cecilia and grandchildren, Amber, Cheri, Sean, Timothy and Emily; daughter, Teresa Lynn Coakley and grandchildren, Nathaniel and Arminta; brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Judy Coakley, Butch and Kay Coakley; sister, Carol Caynor; and many nieces and nephews, grand and great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at 7 p.m. from Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Hoover officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the service hour. Sam will be cremated and his cremains will be taken to Bakers Run, W.Va. at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donation memorials by made to Pulaski Christian Church.
The family would like to express their immense gratitude to the emergency response people and the Pulaski police officers for their quick response in this crisis. You are truly appreciated!
