Robert "Bob" Lynn Coakley Sr., 87, of Elizabethtown died Monday, June 10, 2013, at Hardin Memorial Hospital.

He was born in 1926 at the family farm in the Youngers Creek area. He attended Dailington School at Youngers Creek and graduated from Elizabethtown High School. In 1948 he graduated from the University of Kentucky Pharmacy School and worked as a pharmacist for 50 years.

Bob worked for Lex's Drugs and Taylor's Drug Store in Elizabethtown. He then worked and co-owned Radcliff Drugs for 28 years.
He was a member of Severns Valley Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lynn Coakley and Bessie Smith Coakley; three brothers, Frank, Smith and James; two sisters, Ann Mary Richardson and Edna Coakley; and his daughter, Beth Coakley Lewis.

Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Meers Coakley; one son, Bob (Patty) Coakley Jr. of Elizabethtown; a daughter, Becky Coakley (Karen McBride) of Birmingham, England; seven grandchildren, Alice Girst Mabbeth and Joseph Grist of England, Michael Grist of Tokyo, Katie Coakley of Atlanta, Emma Coakley of Elizabethtown and Stewart Lewis and Boone Lewis, both of Goshen, Ky.; one great-granddaughter, Ivy Belle James of Leicester, England.

Cremation was chosen by the family.

Visitation is from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 16, at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Helping Hand of Hope.
