Lena M. Caldwell, daughter of George W. Clow and Sarah Isabel Duncan, was born Dec. 4, 1884 near Allerton and passed away at the Wayne County Hospital in Corydon on Thursday morning, Oct. 1st at the age of 74 years, 9 months and 17 days, following an extended illness.

She was united in marriage to Clyde N. Caldwell on Feb. 8, 1905. To this union four children were born, a daughter, Ione of Missouri Valley, Iowa and three babies who died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death on Jan. 10. 1954.

She was a life-long member of the Allerton Methodist church, a member of the Chapter EU P.E. O. Sisterhood since 1915, and a member of the Prairie Gen Rebekah lodge over fifty years.

She leaves her daughter, Ione and son-in-law, DeVerne, three sisters, Mrs. Golda Snodgrass of Allerton, Mrs. Verda Hammond of Lakeside, Ariz., and Mrs. Hilma Hughes of Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Randolph Funeral Home in Allerton with Rev. Richard Kiefer officiating assisted by Rev. D. M. Crawford. Pallbearers were Kennedy Fennell, Claude Nye, Perry Sears, Ray McClain, Dale Marolf and Karl Hursey. Burial was in the Allerton Cemetery.
