Janet F. Barber of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Mt. Carmel, passed away on May 21, 2011 at St. Mary's Medical Center.
Janet was born in Manhattan, N.Y., to Hugh and Agnes Clow. Before moving to Mt. Carmel, she had worked in banking at New York Trust.
On Feb. 14, 1944, Janet married Ray Glover. They were married for 11 years before Ray died in 1955. On July 4, 1957 she married William G. Barber. They enjoyed 36 years of marriage before his death in 1993.
Janet loved traveling, especially back to New York, and also enjoyed playing Bingo and doing craftwork. She taught Sunday school for more than 20 years at Trinity United Methodist Church in Mt. Carmel. Above all else, Janet was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend and truly never met a stranger.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Agnes Clow; by her first husband, Ray Glover, and second husband, William G. Barber; and by her son, David Glover; and four sisters.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane (James) Morris of Jacksonville, Ill., Martha Barber (Joe Davis) of Evansville, and Joan (Mike) Nunn of Evansville; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Glover of Jacksonville, Ill.; grandchildren, Nicole Glover (Patrick) Forsythe, Matthew (Kristine) Glover, Heather Riggs, Jason (Rachel) Nunn, Michelle Nunn, Andrew Nunn and Thomas Nunn; eight great-grandchildren' and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, May 25, at Sunset Funeral Home, 1800 St. George Road in Evansville. Graveside services and burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery in Mt. Carmel, at approximately 1:15 p.m.
Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
