Samuel Sheridan Clingaman was the child of Andrew Jackson Clingaman and Catherine (Rogers) Clingaman. His father's family moved here in 1853 from Stark County, Ohio in an oxen-driven wagon. Though it's a guess on my part, I believe Samuel's middle name, Sheridan, in honor of Philip Sheridan, whom Andrew Jackson and his brother, Daniel Clingaman, served under during the Civil War.
Samuel was one of ten children born and raised west of Burlington, Fulton, Ohio.
