Cleo R. (Little) Cline, 82, of Boise, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2011 at a local hospital.
Cleo was born on February 2, 1929 in Hutchinson, Kansas to Earl and Lena (Little) Rounkles. Her mother passed away at childbirth, and her grandmother Little adopted her, and they moved to Idaho. Cleo graduated from Boise High School. She married Jack Byron Cline on December 15, 1946 in Winnemucca, Nevada. Cleo and Jack moved to the Los Angeles, California area, where she graduated from UCLA. Cleo started her career in Insurance with Foster Insurance Agency as an under writer. Cleo received her Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter's designation in 1977. CPCU is an international educational society for insurance professionals around the world. She was awarded the prestigious Rie Sharp Award in 1987. Cleo was a founding member of the San Gabriel Chapter CPCU in January of 1980 and served as president of the Chapter in 1988-89. During the 50th year celebrations of the Pacific CPCU Society in 1995-96 Cleo produced a video with several interviews with past presidents and a narrative of the chapter's history. Cleo was president of the Los Angeles Chapter CPCU 1996-97. Cleo also served on many All Industry Day Committees held each year for the insurance professionals in Los Angeles and surrounding areas. Cleo served on the National CPCU Society Board as Director and continued on various national committees including the Senior Resource Interest Group where she started the annual senior travel trips. Cleo was instrumental in starting and continued as an active member of the Idaho Chapter of CPCU. Cleo was also president of the Insurance Women of Los Angeles where she inspired and encouraged women to become insurance professionals. Cleo taught many insurance professionals Umbrella and Excess liability, served as expert witness for litigation disputes, and prepared procedure manuals for Deans and Homer (a large insurance company). Cleo was a staunch supporter of all insurance professionals and she was mentor, teacher, and inspiration to all those who aspired to excellence in their profession. Her legacy of excellence in her profession and those she inspired will live on. Cleo and Jack moved back to Idaho around 2001. They enjoyed country music, and went several nights a week to enjoy it. They also enjoyed going to the Melba Senior Center on Thursdays for lunch and to visit old friends. She is survived by her husband, Jack Cline; a half-sister, Kathryn Brooks of Mesa, AZ, and numerous cousins.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm on Monday, September 26, 2011 at Cloverdale Funeral Home 1200 N. Cloverdale Road Boise, with a funeral service at 2:00 pm at Cloverdale Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at Cloverdale Memorial Park, followed by a reception at the Cloverdale Funeral Home Reception Center.
