Funeral services were Tuesday at
St. Joseph Catholic Church in
Delphi for Hubert J. Clifford, 79,
of Delphi who died Saturday, Feb.
13, 1982, at 1:25 p.m. at St.
Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette. He
had been a patient five days and in
ill health three months.
Born Nov. 2, 1902, his parents
were James and Margaret McClain
Clifford. He married Lucile Crosby
in 1932 and she survives.
A graduate of St. Joseph Catholic
High School in Delphi, he attended
St. Joseph College in Rensselaer. He
formerly owned Clifford’s Grocery
in Delphi and retired as expitator in
1969 from Globe Valve Corporation
in Delphi.
He was a member of St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Delphi and
Knights of Columbus Council.
Surviving with the wife are one
daughter, Mrs. Richard (Kathleen)
Hawn of Delphi; one son, Father
David Clifford, pastor of St. Bern
ard’s Catholic Church in
Crawfordsville; one sister, Mrs.
Fred (Josephine) Thieme of
Lafayette; five grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by two children,
four brothers and two sisters.
Priests of the Diocese officiated
for the funeral mass and burial was
in St. Joseph Cemetery in Delphi.
Thompson Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements. Memorials
may be made to St. Joseph Catholic
Church of the Diabetes Association.
