John E. Clevy, 84, retired Baltimore and Ohio, railroad employee and former resident of Claremont, died Friday at his home in Vincennes, IN, after a prolonged illness. Mr. Clevy had retired from railroad work after being with the B. and O. for 42 years. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Men. He was a native of Claremont, IL, born Dec. 15, 1874, a son of Thomas and Barbara Clevy. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Idene Quarterman of Vincennes and Mrs. Elsie Atkins of Sumner: three sons, Charles, Perry, and John Jr., all of Claremont, 18 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and four sisters, Mrs. Anna Anderson, Mrs. Sarah E. McManus and Mrs. Maud Timmons, all of Vincennes and Mrs. Rosetta Sinclair of Decker, IN. Funeral services were conducted today at the Methodist church at Claremont, with Rev. William Patty officiating. Burial was in the Sumner Cemetery.
