Nellie Emma Clemmons Butters, 88, of Hanover, died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at King's Daughters' Hospital.
She was born Aug. 15, 1922, in Hanover, the daughter of Nelson and Maude Evans Clemmons. She lived most of her life in Hanover, but was a graduate of the Soldiers and Sailors Home in Indianapolis. She retired in 1989 from Reliance Electric Company, where she worked as a sub assembler for 27 and a half years. She was a member of the Kimberlin Creek Baptist Church in Lexington and enjoyed crossword puzzles, working in her yard and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Terry Butters and Bill Butters both of Hanover; one daughter, Linda Moore of Sellersburg; one sister, Clara Jewell of Richmond; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Bernice Ray; and one brother, James Clemmons.
The funeral was at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre. Burial was in Hanover Cemetery.
