Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at the Rantoul Christian Church, North Maplewood Drive, Rantoul. Pastor Glen Crouse will officiate. Burial will follow in the Potomac Cemetery, Potomac. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Lux Memorial Chapel, 1551 E. Grove Ave., Rantoul.
Opie was born March 2, 1964 in Urbana, a son of Harley and June (Howell) Clemmons. His mother resides in Potomac. He married Kelly Jackson Oct. 5, 2002, in Potomac. She survives.
Also surviving are: a son, Wade Clemmons of Potomac; two daughters, Maya Clemmons of Hoopeston and Katy (Andy) Allen of Thomasboro and two borthers, Harlan (Becky) Clemmons of Onawa, Iowa and Marvin (Kimberly) Clemmons of Fisher.
He was a 1982 graduate of Potomac High School. He was employed for the past 21 years at SuperValu. He was a police officer in Potomac and served on the Potomac Unit 10 School Board. He was formerly a volunteer fireman in Potomac and a member of the Potomac Christian Church. He was also a member of the Harley Owners Group and a pillar member of the United Way. He loved being with his children, spending time outdoors, hunting and he was a professional bull riding and NASCAR enthusiast.
