Helen was born October 25, 1922, in Bushrod, Indiana, a daughter of the late John and Katie (Underwood) Clements. She grew up in southern Indiana. On December 24, 1941, in Odon, Indiana, Helen married George C. Benefiel. A few years later they settled in Indianapolis. George passed away in 2006 and Helen then moved to Mishawaka to live near a daughter. Helen was a homemaker and also worked at Farm Bureau Insurance as well as the Veterans Administration. She was an active member of Ben Davis Christian Church. Helen and George loved square dancing and were members of the Indiana Square Dancing Association. Helen enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, and won a contest for her angel food cake. Later in life the couple enjoyed camping throughout the country with the Good Sams Club. Helen's surviving family includes two daughters, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild, Besides her husband, Helen was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
